Vancouver Chosen as Best Place to Live Again!
Vancouver, BC, has been chosen the “Most Livable City in the World” out of Canadian municipalities for the last couple of years. Undoubtedly, Vancouver is a beautiful west coastcity on the Pacific Ocean with lots of green space and bike routes throughout. But what is it that makes Vancouver such a sought-after place to be? It’s most probably not the weather, even though this summer and most of our fall has been fabulous and we were very lucky to have so much sunshine. In our opinion, it’s a number of factors that makes Vancouver the city it is; both the little things and also those more substantial.
The Great Outdoors
For one, Vancouver is an outdoor-enthusiast city – the Grouse Mountain Grind and other North Shore hiking trails are usually quite packed during a sunny weekend. In winter, locals and tourists can easily go snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing on three different local mountains: Cypress Mountain, Grouse Mountain and Seymour Mountain. World-class winter resort, Whistler, is only 2 hours away and lesser-known ski resorts are within a 2 to 3 hour drive. If you don’t like hiking or winter sports, there are plenty of other opportunities for athletic activities, such as sailing, golfing, kayaking, indoor climbing – and the list goes on. At the same time, Vancouver doesn’t have a freeway cutting through the city, instead, we have bike lanes covering a web of bike-only lanes throughout Metro Vancouver. You can even bike all the way from downtown to Steveston, a small community in Richmond.
Clean Water
Another awesome Vancouver fact is that our tap water is absolutely enjoyable, and there is no need to buy plastic bottles with filtered water. Not only does this make it easier for everyone to access clean water anywhere in the city, but it helps reduce the amount of waste that needs to be produced.
Fantastic Food
Ever feel like Thai for lunch and Sushi for dinner? Easily possible here in Vancouver, a very multicultural city, where you find any type of food your heart desires. Each neighbourhood has something unique to offer – Commercial Drive with its Portuguese background also has plenty of other ethnic dishes to serve and is low-maintenance and easy going, whereas Yaletown has upper-class, trendy and fancy restaurants and bars and a much more sophisticated feel. Then we have Granville Island with all its art stores and fresh produce, fish and flowers. These are just 3 neighbourhoods – imagine what else there is out there to discover!
All in all, Vancouver is a fantastic place to live. Upon arriving, go out and explore, meet new friends and have great stories for your friends and family.
